Siddique taken to N\\\'ganj SP office

Nearly 12 hours after his captors set him free, police took Abu Bakar Siddique, husband of award-winning environment lawyer Syeda Rizwana Hasan, to the office of Superintendent of Police (SP) of Narayanganj district on Friday. Siddique was taken to the Narayanganj SP’s office on way to a court where he will give his deposition over his abduction. Abductors freed Siddique at Mirpur in Dhaka around 11:00pm on Thursday, about 33 hours after his abduction in Bhuigarh under Fatulla police station in Narayanganj. After Siddique reached the SP’s office in a police car around 11:00am today, SP Syed Nurul Islam held a press briefing in Narayanganj city and described the incident of his kidnap quoting Siddique, a lawyer-turned entrepreneur. Earlier, Additional Superintendents of Police (ASP) of Narayanganj Md Shahidul Islam and Md Mazharul reached Rizwana Hasan and Siddique’s residence at Central Road in Kalabagan in Dhaka to take him to a magistrate court in Narayanganj where a magistrate will record his statement under the Section-164. The police officials along with Siddique left Dhaka’s Central Road for Narayanganj at about 10:30am. Rizwana, chief executive of Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (Bela) also accompanied her husband. Prior to record his statement at the Narayanganj court, Siddique will be taken to a hospital for his medical check-up, according to a news agency.
