Siemens wins 132/33 kv PGCB substation order

Siemens Consortium Gallamari Project, a joint venture with Siemens AG, Germany and Siemens Bangladesh Ltd, has signed a contract with Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB), an enterprise of Bangladesh Power Development Board, to design, supply and install a 132/33 kv gas insulated switchgear sub-station at Gallamari with associated transmission line and extension of existing 230/132 kv Khulna South Substation on turn-key basis.
The Tk 570.6 million (6.0 million euros) contract, which was signed on August 16 this year, has been financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) under the West Zone Power System Development Project, said a press release.
The works under the contract includes design, supply, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning on turn-key basis of a new indoor type 132kv GIS at Gallamari, including two 132/33kv, 25/41MVA power transformers and associated ancillary equipment, control, protection and substation automation equipment, civil works and 132kv Gallamari-Khulna south transmission line (approximately 4 km) and extension of two spare bays of existing 230/132kv Khulna south substation.
This is a pioneer project for Siemens Bangladesh Ltd JV with Siemens AG, Germany for the GIS, air insulated switchgear (AIS) substation, including substation automation and associated Transmission Line in 132kv voltage Level.
The project completion period is 16 months from the effective date of the contract.
Mohammed Salim, company secretary of PGCB, Hubertus Boesten, director of Power Division of Siemens Bangladesh, and Ursula Wolf, commercial project manager for High Voltage Substations of Siemens AG, signed the contract on behalf of their respective companies.
ABM Harunur Rashid, managing director of PGCB, Fariduddin Ahmed, deputy general manager (Project-2) of PGCB, Md Nazim Uddin, deputy general manager (design) of PGCB, Juergen Drewitzki, technical senior manager of High Voltage Substations of Siemens AG, Md Rezaut Alam, executive engineer of Siemens Bangladesh and other high officials from both companies were present on the occasion.
