Signing PTA with Myanmar under scrutiny: Tofail

Tuesday, 25 February 2014

Bangladesh has been scrutinising the prospect of having a ‘Preferential Trade Agreement’ (PTA) with its close neighbour Myanmar in a bid to enhance trade between the two countries, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed told Parliament Tuesday.
Bangladesh Tariff Commission (BTC) has been working on the matter, he said, responding to a starred question of Moazzem Hossain Ratan (Sunamganj-1).
Tofail mentioned that a decision in this regard was taken in the last Joint Trade Commission meeting between Bangladesh and Myanmar held in the Myanmar capital  January 14-15, according to a news agency.
