Silent torture on domestic help

There are many media reports on tortured housemaids. Most often the victims are minors and unable to protect themselves from their tyrant employees or the cruel housewives. Sometimes, the domestic helps are not given enough food, enough salaries and some of them are raped even. I am sure, most of the cases of tortures remain unreported to the law enforcers or the media.
 As conscious citizens, we have a role to play here and we can't remain silent when humanity is in distress. The human rights organisations should look into the matter and create awareness among the common people so that we don't see such sorry pictures of this helpless section in our society. Our religious leaders can also play an important role to create awareness among the common people as they have great influence over them. We cannot solve this problem only through law. The print and electronic media are stronger now than it ever was. The government must play its due role to eradicate child labour which is a shame on us. After long 42 years of our independence, we have failed to send all of our children to school. We have squandered much time in petty squabbles. We must move ahead and bring a new era of development, prosperity and peace.
