Over two hundred SIM cards of different telecom operators were recovered from a roadside ditch at Ziapur village in Khetlal upazila of Joypurhat district on Tuesday. Locals said Rezvi, 9, son of farmer Musa of the village, saw some mobile SIM cards lying in an abandoned condition on the bank of the ditch while plucking spinach. Being informed about the matter by his son, Musa along with some neighbours went to the spot. As the news spread around, locals started gathering at the spot and looked for SIM cards in the ditch. Meanwhile, police, being notified, appeared at the place and recovered a total of 243 SIM cards -- 170 of Robi, 15 of Banglalink, 49 of Airtel, eight of Teletalk and one of Rankstel. However, locals took away over 1000 SIM cards before the arrival of the law enforcers, according to a news agency.
