Sim Fabrics to set up denim plant in Jamalpur Economic Zone

Sim Fabrics Limited is set to invest $17 million in Jamalpur Economic Zone (JEZ) to establish a denim manufacturing plant.
The proposed industrial unit to be set up on 5.0 acres of land is expected to generate over 250 employments.
To this effect, the private organisation inked a land lease agreement with the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) on Wednesday.
BEZA Executive Member (Investment Development) Mojibur Rahman and Managing Director of SIM Fabrics Mozaffar Hossain signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations at a ceremony held at BEZA headquarters in the city's Agargaon area, a statement said.
BEZA Executive Chairman Sarwar Bari presided over the ceremony.
According to investment proposal, the company aims to establish a denim manufacturing plant while administrative buildings and other facilities will also be built on the allotted land.
Congratulating SIM Fabrics, BEZA Chairman expressed the hope that one of the most renowned institutions in the country will enrich the new initiative in the light of its experience.
He mentioned that all the facilities, including utilities, are being provided to the investors to build a self-sufficient economic zone in Jamalpur.
He also said that as a result of the development of this region, the people of remote areas will enjoy the benefits of industrialisation.
Jamalpur Economic Zone (JEZ) is the first Economic Zone under implementation in Mymensingh Division. The industrial estate will be established on a total of 436 acres of land. The successful implementation of the zone will generate over 32,000 direct employments.
