Friday, 9 May 2014

Singapore has showed its interest to construct 10,000 flats in Purbachal, a housing project on the outskirts of the capital.
A Singaporean government delegation that also included representatives of a private business conglomerate recently gave a proposal to the Ministry of Housing and Public Works in this connection.
"Initially, Singapore has made a proposal to build 10,000 flats with modern facilities in the Purbachal Housing Project," Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, minister for Housing and Public Works Ministry, told BSS.
Without naming the company, the minister said: "It will work for the Singaporean government. So, we would ink a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the country after completing the necessary discussion."
The government has a plan to build 62,000 flats in Purbachal, a planned modern residential area for the people.
Mosharraf Hossain said the company will build the flats using modern technology taking into consideration the types of natural calamities in the country. "They will install own plants here to produce raw materials for constructing the flats," he added.
However, they would use local iron rod and cement for the construction work, the minister said.
In addition, the company has also planned to appoint skilled labourers from the local market, he added.
Meanwhile, the government has initialed three MoUs with the Malaysian government on April 29 to construct 22,000 flats in the capital's Uttara and Kamrangirchar as well as a 13-km flyover.
