Singer Bangladesh Ltd Wednesday formally launched one of the top European home appliance brands 'Beko' and electronics brand 'Grundig' targeting the well-to-do customers here.
As the exclusive distributor of Beko and Grundig, owned by Arcelik Group of Turkey, Singer launched the two brands at a city hotel adding more choices at its portfolio for the consumers.
The launching ceremony was attended, among others, by Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Huseyin Muftuoglu, Singer Asia President and CEO Gavin J Walker, Arcelik A.S. Project Manager, international sales, Gurhan Gunal, and Singer Bangladesh Managing Director and CEO AM Hamim Rahmatullah.
Beko's initial offering will be across a full range of white goods including refrigerators, frontloading washing machines, dryer, dishwasher and ovens while Grundig will offer LED television and consumer electronics as well as small household appliances, officials said.
In 2013, Beko was the number one home appliances brand in UK, Lithuania and Poland and the second largest brand in Belgium, France and Latvia, they said.
"Together with Grundig, Beko offers smart technologies generated through our own R&D and high capacity production plants," Mr Gurhan Gunal of Arcelik said.
"With Beko and Grundig, we intended to achieve a considerable market share in the first three years, and in the long run, we aim to be one of the top brands in Bangladesh," he said.
"Bangladesh, being one of the rapidly developing white goods market in Asia hinterland, holds a very crucial position in our growth strategy," he said, adding that launching of the two brands here will fortify Arcelik's position in Asia considering the great potential of the region.
"These products are mostly targeted for well-to-do customers but one can have them through the easy installment plan," Mr Rahmatullah said.
