Six Bengali settlers injured in attack by tribal people

BANDARBAN, Apr 17 (UNB): Six Bengali settlers were injured in an attack allegedly by some people of Chakma tribe over land dispute at Chhoto Bomu under Lama Upazila early Saturday.
The injured Yusuf Ahmed (70), Amena Khatun (55), Abdul Quader (80), Nur Ayesha (50), Kabir Ahmed (70) and Manjurul Alam (21), were admitted to local health complex in critical condition.
Lama upazila Chairman M Ismail said a group of 10-12 masked tribal youths belonging to the Chakma community equipped with sharp weapons swooped on Bangali settlers at the village at about 3.00am.
The attackers hacked several Bengalis while they were asleep, leaving the six seriously injured.
