Six BNP men arrested in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Sept 12 (BSS): Six district and upazila level leaders of BNP and its front organisations were arrested on charge of holding a secret meeting at Nawhata under Paba upazila of the district Friday night, police sources.
On a tip-off, a police team conducted a raid in a house of Rafiqul Islam Rafiq, president of Naohata Pourasabha unit of BNP, and arrested them red-handed while they were holding the covert meeting  around 8:00 pm, said Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Paba thana.
The arrested persons were identified as Mainul Hasan Panna, vice-president of Paba upazila unit BNP and former Rajshahi Bar Association president, Alauddin, general secretary and Manjure Sadat Babu, member of the district unit BNP, Shafiqul Alam Samapta, president of the district unit Chhatra Dal, Sultan Ahmed Rashu, joint convener of the district unit Jubo Dal, and Mojammel, councilor of Naohata municipality ward no-03.
However, Rafiq and other associates managed to flee, the police officer added.
A case was recorded with the thana in this connection and the arrestees were sent to the court hazat.
