Six DU students get fellowship

Six students of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded 'Development Communication Fellowship' by the Centre on Budget and Policy to conduct field level study on different promising areas, including renewable energy, leather and ICT.  
Asia Foundation, a non-profit international development organisation working for promoting the lifestyle of the Asian people, is funding the four-month assistantship programme.
The awardees are: Sajjad Hossain Fahim, Nishat Parvej, Chuton Dev Nath and Abdullah Mohaimen of Mass Communication and Journalism Department and Humaunur Rashid Shams and Bayejid Khan of Development Studies Department.
The DU Vice-chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed the financial assistance among the recipients at the registrar's building Monday.
Social Science Faculty Dean Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed, Arts Faculty Dean Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, Director of the Centre on Budget and Policy Dr M Abu Eusuf and Journalism Department Chairman Prof Akhtar Sultana, among others, attended the function.
According to the scheme, Sajjad Hossain Fahim and Chuton Dev Nath will work with renewable energy and IT sector under the supervision of Shamsul Huq Zahid, Joint Editor, The Financial Express, Bayejid Khan will work under the supervision of Arun Devnath, Business Editor, The Daily Star and Humaunur Rashid Shams under Jinarul Islam Khokon, Acting News Editor of Bonik Barta.
