Six found dead in Dhaka, Jhenidah

The bullet-riddled bodies of six people were recovered from Dhaka and Jhenidah as the nationwide non-stop blockade, enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance, passed off the 49th day on Monday alongside the countrywide shutdown.
Arson attacks, blasts and detentions were also reported from different parts of the country on the day.
Police recovered the bullet-hit bodies of four people from city's Mirpur area while the bullet-riddled bodies of two alleged BNP men were found in Jhenidah in the early morning.
In Dhaka, three people were found dead at Kazipara while another in Technical area of Mirpur. Police claimed that they were lynched by locals while making attempts to carry out sabotage.
Officer-in-Charge of Mirpur model police station Salahuddin Ahmed said locals beat up three youths about 12:15am for their suspicious movement for carrying out subversive activities in Baishbari area of Kazipara.
On information, police rushed to the spot, rescued the youths in an unconscious state and sent them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where attending doctors declared them dead.
"Yes, we're investigating the matter who shot them," he said when asked how the bodies had received bullets in lynching.
Identities of the victims could not be ascertained till filing of this report at 7:30 pm.
The police officer said they caught another young man named Wadud red-handed for torching a bus of Dhaka University last evening at Mirpur-2. Wadud confessed to committing the crime at the behest of Mirpur Thana Sramik Dal President Parvez, he added.
"We took him with us in a hunt to arrest Parvez and his associates. When we reached Technical area, the criminals opened fire on us that struck Wadud. We took him to DMCH where doctors declared him dead," he said.
A staff bus which was parked in front of Petrobangla building in the capital's Karwanbazar area was torched by unknown miscreants in the afternoon, but no casualty was reported as there was no one inside the vehicle during the arson attack.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested three youths - Monir Hossain, Noor Islam and Abdul Kader - from Kalabagan area in the city along with 18 handmade bombs, according to the elite force.
In Jhenidah, the bullet-hit bodies of two alleged BNP men were found in Sadar upazila Monday morning. Locals found the bodies of Polash Hossain, 25, and Dulal Hossain, 24, at a lentil field around 7:00 am.
Local BNP leaders claimed that the victims were the activists of their party. Golam Mostafa, father of Polash, is a councillor of ward 8 of Jhenidah Pourashabha.
Family members, however, claimed that Detective Branch of police picked them up Wednesday and Thursday. But the detectives brushed aside the allegation.
Police in separate drives arrested 28 men of the 20-party alliance from Rajshahi city while 52 from Rangpur, 13 from Joypurhat, 10 from Chittagong, 7 from Comilla, 4 from Sirajganj and 3 from Feni.
