Six held with 2 pistols in city

Detective Branch (DB) of police Wednesday night arrested six suspected criminals along with two pistols, seven rounds of bullets and recovered 24 tonnes of iron rod-laden truck from city's Pallabi and Mirpur areas, reports BSS. The arrestees were: ringleader of the gang Sabuj Mia (42), Rahiz Mia (25), Tajul Islam (51), Saiful Islam (37), Iqbal Hossain (35) and Osman Ali (32). Of them, Sabuj and Rahiz were wanted in a number of criminal cases including a double murder case with the Darus Salam thana, police said. Earlier on June 21, a gang of criminals including arrested Sabuj and Rahiz snatched a rod-laden truck after killing its driver and helper from the city's Darus Salam thana, police said. They also hijacked another truck from the city's Shahbagh area with 25 tonnes of rod on March 4. They later sold the rod to the owner of 'Ma Trading' in Mirpur. A case was lodged in this connection.
