Six killed in road accidents

NATORE, Feb 19: An engineer, his wife and their son were killed in a road mishap on Natore-Sirajganj highway at Talbaria under Natore district Friday.
The deceased were identified as engineer Rabiul Islam (40), his wife Tania Islam (35) and their son Tanzim Ahmed (8) resident of Pragpur under Daulatpur Upazila in Kushtia district.
Witenesses said, the accident took place Friday at the Talbaria area of Natore district when a Dhaka-Kushtia bound private car and Rajshahi bound coach tool head on collision, leaving them died on the spot.
Rabiul Islam was son of Ruhul Amin of village Pragpur under Daulatpur Upazila in Kushtia district.
Our Correspondent adds: One motorcycler was killed in a road mishap on Natore-Pabna road at Kadamchilan under Lalpur upazila in Natore district on February 18.
The deceased was identified as Ibrahim Hossain (45), son of Kasim Uddin, a resident of Gunaikhara under Baraigram Upazila in Natore district.
Witenesses said, the accident took place Friday at the Kadamchilan area of the district.
Brahmanbaria
UNB adds: A woman was killed under the wheels of a passenger bus in front of Ibrahimpur Etimkhana Gate on Nabinagar-Companyganj highway Friday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Ayesha Akter (50), wife of Abdul Alim Mia of the Kathalia village. Local people said a Nabinagar-bound passenger bus ran over Ayesha while she tried to get into the bus.
She was sent to the Nabinagar Sadar Hospital where the attending doctor declared her dead.
Protesting the accident local angry people barricaded the highway for 3 hours. Later, the police went to the spot and controlled the situation.
Another report from bdnews24.com adds: A head-on collision between a truck and a motorbike has left one dead on Comilla-Sylhet highway in Brahmanbaria.
Police said the accident took place around 11am at Puniaut level- crossing on Brahmanbaria Bypass when the bike of Akkas Ali (40), crashed into the truck.
Ali died on the spot.
Sadar police sub-inspector Mahfuz Alam said angry mob tried to vandalise the truck and set it on fire, but police brought the situation under control.
He said the truck driver and his helper were arrested.
