Six killed in road accidents in 4 dists

Six persons were killed in separate road accidents at different places in Gazipur, Dinajpur, Gaibandha and Thakurgaon districts Friday, report agencies.
In Gaibandha, a housewife was killed after a passenger bus crushed her at Hirok Mour on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway under Gobindaganj upazila while she was crossing the road there at around 3:50 pm.
The deceased was identified as Amina Begum, 33, wife of Mostafizur Rahman of nearby village Sakapla under Gobindaganj upazila.
In Thakurgaon, a pedestrian was killed when a Panchagarh-bound speedy truck from Thakurgaon crushed him at Kochubari point on the Rangpur-Panchagarh highway under Sadar upazila around 5 pm.
The deceased was Mohammad Abu Sama, 38, son of Shahjahan Ali Mian of village Kochubari under Sadar upazila of Thakurgaon district. Police seized the killer truck.
In Gazipur, two people, including a readymade garment factory worker, were killed in separate road accidents in the city on Friday.
Highway police sources said a man was killed when a Dhaka-bound bus knocked down him on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Borobari in the city on Friday morning.
The deceased identified as Rezaul Haque, 40, hailed from Maheshpur upazila in Jhenidah district.
In another incident, a young man was killed when an unknown vehicle run over him at Targach in the city early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Sohel Rana, 25, a worker of MSC Wear Garments Factory.
He hailed from Sherpur sadar upazila.
Police sent the bodies to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
In Dinajpur, two persons were killed when a bus rammed a rickshaw van at Bhushirbandar in Chirirbandar upazila early Friday.
The deceased were identified as Manik Chandra Roy, 28, son of Sotyanjoy Roy of Kalinia village in Khansama upazila, and Azizul Islam, 38, van driver and son of Nazrul Islam of Fatezongpur village in the Chirirbandar upazila.
Locals said the bus crashed into the van on Dinajpur-Dhaka highway in the early hours when the duo was returning from a local Ras Mela, leaving Azizul dead on the spot and Manik critically injured.
Manik was taken to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital where he succumbed around 10am.
