Six more children die with measles symptoms

Six more children died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours until 8:00 am on Wednesday, according to the health authorities.
With the latest daily count, the total fatalities from measles and measles-like symptoms rose to 803 since March 15 last.
Of the total fatalities, 95 were confirmed as measles cases, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its daily bulletin.
Meanwhile, as many as 904 suspected and 133 confirmed measles infections were reported in the past 24 hours.
The total suspected measles infections rose to 120,352 and confirmed infections reached 14,841 since mid-March, according to the DGHS.
In response to a measles outbreak rapidly spreading across the country, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has already vaccinated over 18.48 million children since April.
Measles is a highly contagious viral disease, which affects individuals of all ages and remains one of the leading causes of death among young children globally.
Meanwhile, the health authorities reported zero fatality from dengue in the past hours while 375 more people were hospitalised with dengue infections.
The total number of dengue related deaths rose to 38 and the caseloads reached 11,570 since January this year.
