Six schoolboys among 9 dead in Ctg road mishap

CHITTAGONG, Aug 13 (UNB): A bus crashed into an auto-rickshaw on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Sitakunda area this (Monday) morning, killing nine people, seven of them students.
Police and local sources said six other people were also wounded in the road accident in front of a temple at Sultana Jute Mills.
Officer-in-Charge of Sitakunda thana Abdus Salam told the news agency that a Feni-bound passenger bus rammed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw carrying 10 schoolboys of Masjidda High School in the port city at about 7.30 am, amid heavy rain, reducing the auto-rickshaw into a useless wreck.
The dead were identified as Ronny (12), Ashek Elahi (12), Mainul Karim (15), Sohel (15), Shimul Das (13), Noman (14), auto-rickshaw driver Rubel, degree college student Ajit Dey (20) and fruit-trader Samar Dey (20).
Of the victims, the first seven were passengers of the auto-rickshaw while Ajit Dey and Samar Dey were in the bus.
The injured were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital after the accident, which triggered an angry protest.
