Sixteen killed in separate incidents

Sixteen persons were killed and many others injured in separate incidents in different places of the country during the last two days, report agencies.
In Magura, three people were killed and 20 others injured in a head-on-collision between a night coach and a truck at Keshtapur on the Magura-Jessore Road early Tuesday.
The police said three passengers of the Dhaka-bound night coach died on the spot when it collided with the truck shortly after midnight.
Two of the deceased were identified as Ibrahim Ali and Moslem Ali. Of the injured, 10 were admitted to the Sadar Hospital.
In Natore, four people, including a UNO, were injured when a truck hit a jeep at Gobindapur in Sadar Upazila Tuesday noon.
In Chapainawabganj, five people were killed in lightning in separate places of the district Tuesday morning.
In Brahmanbaria, a pedestrian was killed and nine people were injured when a bus plunged into a roadside ditch at Ghatua area on the outskirts of the district town Monday evening. The deceased was identified as Qashem Molla of the area.
In Khulna, a bus rammed into a motorcycle in Dumuria Upazila on the Khulna-Satkhira Highway Tuesday morning, killing one of its riders and injuring another one.
The police recovered the body and sent it to the Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
In Barisal, three people were killed and four others injured in lightning at Char Nurul Amin village in Charfashion Upazila in Bhola district Monday.
The dead were identified as Nesaruddin, Ilias and Nurul Islam. The injured were Mojibor, Motaleb, Soleman and Abul Bashar.
When the carpenters were working in the house of Chan Mia of the village thunderbolt struck them at about 9-30 am during storm, killing three people on the spot.
The injured were admitted to upazila health complex.
In Kushtia, a rice mill employee was killed in boiler explosion in the mill at Bhabanipur village in Bheramara Upazila Tuesday morning.
In Comilla, a rickshaw puller was beaten to death by the rickshaw owner at Doara village in Debighar Upazila Monday morning.
In Bagerhat, a minor girl was crushed under the wheels of a pickup van at Fakirhat godown crossing area on the Bagerhat-Mawa Highway Monday noon.
