SJIBL holds workshop on Basel-II

Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd (SJIBL) held a daylong workshop on 'Basel-II and other concepts' at its head office in the city Saturday.
SJIBL Managing Director Muhammad Ali inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest.
General managers Naba Gopal Banik, Chowdhury Mohidul Haque, Md Harunur Rashid Chowdhury and KM Abdul Wadood and Bangladesh Bank (BB) DGM were the key speakers of the workshop.
Muhammad Ali, in his inaugural speech, said proper implementation of Basel-II would help the banks and financial institutions in mitigating both financial and economic risks associated with day-to-day activities.
He discussed different aspects of Basel-II giving emphasis on its positive implication on banks and financial institutions in respect of risk management.
Deputy Managing Director of the bank Md Jillur Rahman, SEVP Abdul Jabbar Chowdhury, EVPs Md Ghulam Wahab, Md Mohashin Miah and Shafiul Azam were present on the occasion.
SJIBL executives and branch managers also participated in the workshop.
The speakers discussed various topics including Basel-II, currency management, payment system and role of inspection in banking sector in the context of the BB.
