SK Jamal to play U Baridhara in Federation Cup opener

Last time runners-up Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club will play newcomer Uttar Baridhara Club in the opening match of the Walton 28th Federation Cup Football Tournament at Bangabandhu National Stadium Thursday (Nov 21), reports UNB.
The popular sky-blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani Limited will face the lone representative of Bangladesh Championship League Rahmatganj MFS in the other opening day's fixture on the season's curtain raiser meet Thursday at the same venue.
The grouping and fixture of the 12-team Federation Cup Football were finalised Sunday in a ceremonial draw at the conference room of BFF House with two traditional rivals Dhaka Abahani Ltd and Dhaka Mohammedan SC placing in group D.
BFF senior vice-president Abdus Salam Murshedy, additional director of the meet sponsor Walton FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn, Walton Brand Ambassador Zobera Rahman Linu and BFF general secretary Abu Naeem Shohag and the representatives of participating teams were present on the occasion.
A total of 12 teams -- 10 from Bangladesh Premier League, one from championship League and rest one either BKSP or Bangladesh Police-split into four groups, will compete in the season curtain raiser meet.
Out of 12 participating teams, eleven teams have already been finalised and the remaining Group C team will be determined through a play-off match between BKSP and Bangladesh Police to be held today (Monday).
The Grouping:
Group A: Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, Soccer Club Feni, Uttar Baridhara.
Group B: Sheikh Russell KC, Muktijoddha SKC, Chittagong Abahani Ltd.
Group C: Team BJMC, Brothers Union, BKSP/Bangladesh Police
Group D: Dhaka Abahani Ltd, Dhaka Mohammedan SC, Rahmatganj MFS
On completion of the group matches, the quarterfinal matches will be held on November 28, 29, 30 and Dec 1 respectively while the semifinal matches are billed for Dec 3 and 4 and the final match will be held on Dec 6.
The champion team will be richer with Tk 500000, runners-up team will receive Tk 300000 and all the 12 participating teams will get appearance money of Tk 25,000 each.
