Skilled female workers for overseas jobs planned

FE Report | Wednesday, 17 September 2014

The government plans to enlist skilled female workers for their jobs abroad, sources said.
The enrolment will be made in Export Processing Zones (EPZs) and hill tracts areas in the country, said an official.
Following a greater demand of skilled housemaids in Hong Kong and apparel workers in Jordan, the authority has taken such plan. The registration may start in October, he also hinted.
The official said although presently Bangladeshi female workers are securing jobs in Hong Kong as domestic workers, they cannot adjust with culture and food of those countries. Due to such problems some of the workers returned home.
"So we have planned to recruit female workers from our tribal communities for Hong Kong as there are some similarities with our cultures, religions and food habits," he said.
"We expect good response from the job seekers, the official added.
Earlier, around 50,000 female job seekers were enlisted under the government database for overseas jobs in various sectors.
