SL leader gunned down in Jessore

A Swechchhasebak League (SL) leader was shot dead by miscreants at Bejpara in Jessore district town on Saturday. The victim was identified as Abdul Mannan, town unit president of Swechchhasebak League and son of Abdul Majid of Chandpara village in Sadar upazila. Witnesses said Mannan came under attack by a group of miscreants in his business establishment ’AM traders’ at Piarimohon Road in the town around 5pm. The miscreants fired one shot at him and later chopped him with sharp weapons indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured. Hearing his screams, locals rushed to the spot but the assailants fled the scene exploding two bombs. Mannan was taken to Jessore Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, according to a news agency.
