Slight decline in prices of vegetables

Prices of vegetables and green chilli declined slightly while the prices of other essential commodities remained unchanged in the city markets over the past week, traders said.
Traders said the prices of vegetables declined in the city markets mainly due to increase in the supply of the items from the countryside after flood and curfew.
During the last week, at the retail level, brinjal was selling at Tk 30-Tk 36 per kg compared with its previous rates at Tk 36-Tk 42 per kg, bitter gourd at Tk 28-Tk 30 per kg compared with its previous rates at Tk 30-Tk 32 per kg.
Prices of snake gourd and ridge gourd declined to Tk 20-Tk 26 per kg compared with its previous rates at Tk 28-Tk 30 per kg, traders said.
During the last week green chilli was selling at Tk 80-Tk 100 per kg compared with its previous rates at Tk 140-Tk 160 per kg.
Potato price remained unchanged in the city markets at Tk 20-Tk 21 per kg over the past week.
During the last week, at the wholesale level, prices of Indian variety of Swarna and local Paari remained unchanged at Tk 900-Tk 910 per maund, Lata variety at Tk 950-Tk 960 per maund and IRRI variety at Tk 850 per maund.
In the past week, prices of Nazirshail from Savar remained unchanged at Tk 1000 per maund, Nazirshail from North Bengal at Tk 1200 per maund and Minicate variety at Tk 1080-Tk 1100 per maund, traders said.
At the retail level, prices of fine varieties of rice remained unchanged at Tk 29-Tk 32 per kg and the coarse varieties of rice at Tk 24-Tk 25 per kg, traders said.
According to sources, a one-litre can of edible oil was selling at Tk 90-Tk 95, unchanged from the previous week.
Prices of soybean oil at the city's Moulvibazar wholesale market remained unchanged at Tk 2,760 per maund, super palm oil at Tk 2,700 per maund and palm oil Tk 2,660 per maund, traders said.
Eggs were selling at Tk 60 per dozen, unchanged from the previous week.
During the last week at the retail level the price of one kilogram (kg) of packaged coarse flour was Tk 33 per kg and two-kg packet Tk 66.
Prices of the fine variety of lentil remained unchanged at Tk 72-Tk 74 per kg and its Turkish variety at Tk 56-Tk 60 per kg. Prices of 'moong' pulse remained unchanged at Tk 70-Tk 74 per kg during the last week.
During the last week price of ginger remained unchanged at Tk 50-Tk 60 per kg, onion at Tk 30-Tk 32 per kg and garlic at Tk 60 per kg.
In the last week, prices of poultry birds remained unchanged at Tk 90-Tk 100 per kg and beef at Tk 180 per kg.
During the last week a medium-size hilsa fish was selling at Tk 350-Tk 400 per piece, unchanged from the previous week.
During the last week, at the wholesale level sugar was selling at Tk 910 per maund, unchanged from the previous week.
At the retail level sugar was selling at Tk 28-Tk 30 per kg during the last week, unchanged from the previous week.
Mutton was selling at Tk 220-Tk 230 per kg, unchanged from the previous week. Traders said prices of refined salt remained unchanged at Tk 18 per kg.
