Sluggish demand seen

Wednesday, 26 October 2011

The weekly tea sale Tuesday was marked by sluggish demand that worsened as the sale progressed and a lot of teas were withdrawn without bids particularly towards the close, reports UNB. Blenders operated with less strength whilst there was only selective enquiry from Internal Loose tea buyers, according to a market report. Good liquoring Dusts again sold well. CTC LEAF: 35,300 packages and 856 packages of old season on offer met with less demand which slackened as the sale progressed. BROKENS: Good liquoring brokens were initially slightly easier but with the progress of sale these eased further often by Tk 6 to Tk 8, the best selling between Tk 148 and Tk 151. The remainder met with a discriminating market. Plainer varieties were mostly withdrawn without bids. FANNINGS: Good liquoring Fannings initially met with a fair demand but at slightly easier rates and declined as the sale progressed often by Tk 6 to Tk 8 and these could be quoted between Tk 144 and Tk 147 whilst the best liquoring types sold between Tk 148 and Tk 152. CTC DUST: 5,581 packages and 14 packages of old season on offer once again met with quite a fair demand at easier rates. Good liquoring varieties eased by up to Tk 5 whilst others eased further with some withdrawals for the plainer liquoring varieties. Select few lines of good liquoring varieties were about firm. Loose tea buyers and Blenders lent fair support.
