Small children burdened with books
Friday, 4 July 2014
According to the present trend even three-year old boys and girls are going to school. Parents send their children to school very early in the morning though the toddlers are not interested to go. Their parents are not ready to listen, and in many cases children are forcefully sent to school.
Most of the schools take advantage of the situation and charge huge money and prescribe a lot of books most of which are unnecessary. Toddlers are seen carrying heavy bags weighing 5/6 KGs on their shoulders.
Whether it is Bangla medium or English medium or madrasa the children are forced to buy extra books from the stores prescribed by the institutions. Needless to say there are underhand arrangements behind this business. The government must stop this unholy practice.
At the age when a baby should play only; he is sent in a box in the name of school where there is no play ground and entertainment elements, and where unskilled teachers handle such tender-aged children.
Education for children should be very attractive, the minimum age for schooling should be restricted to six years; and above all measures must be taken to stop school business.
