Small launches not to ply during monsoon: Shajahan

Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan on Friday said small launches will not be allowed to ply during monsoon to avoid accidents.
He said this while talking to reporters after inspecting the repair work on the town protection embankment at Madaripur Launchghat in the morning.
The minister said no launch will be allowed to carry passengers beyond their capacity during the upcoming Eid.
“There’ll be a strict vigilance so that no launch can carry additional passengers during this Eid.”
He also revealed that the operation of 11 small launches has so far been suspended after the capsize of Pinak-6.
