SMC manufacturing ORSaline-N in full swing

Friday, 24 August 2007

FE Report
Social Marketing Company (SMC) has been manufacturing its ORSaline-N at full capacity in three shifts (24 hrs) at its factory at Bhaluka in Mymensingh to meet the increased demand as diarrhoea has become widespread, especially among the children, due to the current devastating flood.
SMC's current production capacity is 175.0 million sachets of Orsaline-N. In the present flood situation, SMC is committed to supplying the maximum number of ORSaline-N to the market as well as to government and private organisations involved in relief operations.
The company already supplied more than 150 million sachets of ORSaline-N to market from October 2006 until date, which had been a significantly higher supply than that of any previous year.
SMC expressed the hope to overcome the situation through extending helping hands towards the vulnerable flood-affected people and to work unitedly for their welfare.
For the last 25 years, SMC, a not-for-profit organisation, has been playing a key role in educating the masses on oral rehydration therapy (ORT). to prevent dehydration due to diarrhoea, and marketing packaged ORSaline.
