SME sector dev for enhancing national uplift stressed

RANGPUR, Aug 26 (BSS): Speakers at a meeting here have stressed for flourishing of the local small and medium enterprises (SME) to create more jobs for accelerating national uplift and enhance economic growth through poverty alleviation.
They put special emphasis on ensuring production of international standard quality of SME products to enhance export of SME products and face the challenges of globalised free trade economy system.
Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) organised a views-sharing meeting on Monday afternoon here on organising the Regional SME Product Fair -2014-2015 at the initiative of the government's SME Foundation in October next in the city.
General Manager of SME Foundation Md Mujibur Rahman attended the meeting as the chief guest with RCCI president Alhaj Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu in the chair.
Senior Vice-president of RCCI Mostoba Hossain Ripan delivered the welcome speech putting special emphasis on involving more female entrepreneurs with the flourishing SME sector to accelerate the pace of national development.
Vice-president of RCCI Golam Zakaria Pintu, its directors Shah Mohammad Selim and Mostafa Ahmed, President of Rangpur Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RWCCI) Anwara Ferdousi Poly, its Vice-president Shahanaz Parveen Shahin and Director Ummey Kulsum, addressed.
Executive committee members of RCCI, its former and incumbent directors, officials of SME Foundation, leaders of RWCCI, small and medium scale entrepreneurs and industrialists were present.
The speakers said the fair would definitely help to promote local SME sector of the division and enhance production of quality SME products, exhibition and introduction of the produced SME goods for expanding business, trade and commerce.
They specially thanked the SME Foundation for giving maximum priority in arranging the first Regional SME Product Fair- 2014-2015 in Rangpur city before arranging the same in all other six divisional headquarters throughout the country.
They stressed for enhancing production of export quality SME goods ensuring international standard to create demand and acceptance of those in the competitive global market to take the nation ahead ensuring national development and enhancing economy.
The fair would also play vital role in flourishing of the prospective SME sector to create more employment opportunity for the people of the backward Rangpur region, they said.
The chief guest sought cooperation of all concerned for successful arrangement of the Regional SME Product Fair- 2014-2015 to be held at Rangpur city on priority basis in October next.
He hoped that the fair would help marketing of the local SME products throughout the country and said the SME Foundation would provide all necessary assistances through its IT sector to the local entrepreneurs for global marketing of their SME products.
