'Smile-brighter' programme of DBBL ends at Mirzapur

Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) organised a three-day 'Smile-Brighter' programme at Kumudini Medical College and Hospital at Mirzapur in Tangail recently as part of its corporate social responsibility.
A plastic surgery team headed by noted plastic surgeon Sharif Hasan conducted the surgery operation.
A discussion meeting was held at Kumudini Medical College compound in this connection. Additional Managing Director (AMD) of the bank AHM Nuzmul Quadir was present as the chief guest.
The DBBL AMD said the bank had taken the noble initiative since 2003 to bring back smile on the faces of the boys and girls cursed with cleft-lips, creating a lot of problems in their social life.
More than 2,500 cleft-lipped boys and girls have already been operated on under the programme at the bank's cost to bring back the endearing smile on their faces, he added.
DBBL Medical Consultant Mozammel Hossain Khan said about 120 cleft-lipped boys and girls were enlisted for plastic surgery. Of them, 50 boys and girls had undergone successful operation. The rest of the boys and girls would be operated on very soon.
Dulal Chandra Podder of Kumudini Medical College and Hospital and Protiva Muksuddi of Kumudini Welfare Trust also spoke, among others, at the meeting.
