SML Packaging to invest $5.103m in AEPZ

M/s SML Packaging Solutions Bangladesh Limited, a China-Canada joint venture company, will set up a garments accessories factory in the Adamjee Export Processing Zone (AEPZ) involving US$5.103 million.
In this connection, an agreement was signed between Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) and M/s SML Packaging Solutions in the city Thursday, said a press release.
Member (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA Sayed Nurul Islam and General Manager of M/s SML Packaging Solutions Syed Shabbir Raza signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
Under the deal, the foreign owned company will set up its unit in the AEPZ and will produce different garments labels and accessories.
The company will also create employment opportunity for 244 Bangladeshi nationals.
Among others, Executive Chairman of the BEPZA Major General ATM Shahidul Islam, Secretary Md Shawkat Nabi, General Manager (Investment Promotion) AZM Azizur Rahman and General Manager (Public Relations) Nazma Binte Alamgir were present at the deal signing ceremony.
