Smuggled goods worth Tk 20.5m recovered

In 2 separate anti-smuggling drives, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel seized a large quantity of smuggled goods worth about Tk 20.5 million in Rajshahi region on Tuesday, BGB sources said today. On a tip-off, a BGB team seized 2 trucks laden with stones valued at around Tk 20.4 million at Belpukur check-point under Puthia Upazila of Rajshahi district. However, no arrest was made. Another team seized more than 135 kilograms of cumin worth around Tk 67,500 after conducting a raid at Azimnagar Railway Station in Natore district in an abandoned condition. The seized goods were deposited with the local customs authority after recording separate cases in these connections, the sources added, according to a news agency.
