Smugglers beat BGB official to death

A Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) official was beaten to death allegedly by a gang of smugglers in Lakshmidanri border point in Satkhira Sadar Upazila on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Subedar Nazrul Islam, in-charge of Bhomra BGB camp in Satkhira district. BGB sources said a gang of smugglers swooped on Nazrul in Lakshmidanri frontier village around 8:00am while he along with Sepoy Bellal Hossain went to the border point by a motorbike for patrolling. The smugglers beat Nazrul mercilessly, leaving him seriously injured. He was rushed to Satkhira Sadar Hospital where the doctor declared him dead. The body was sent to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, according to a news agency.
