Smuggling rampant on B'baria border

BRAHMANBARIA, Nov 4: Rampant smuggling of essential commodities is going on unabated through the border areas of the district.
According to local people smuggling is being done through different points of Akhaura and Kasba border of the district.
Smugglers bring in sugar, salt, spices, VCD sets, wine, ganja, phensidyl, heroin, medicines, bicycle, iron, plough, spade, motorcycle, rickshaw van, utensils, and even firearms from India. From Bangladesh, Smugglers carry gold, copper, cotton, thread, polyester cloth, watch parts, soap and crokeries to India.
Smugglers reportedly sell their smuggled goods at different areas of the district. Indian miscreants enter into Bangladesh territory freely and smuggled the goods.
Local people urged the law enforcing agency to take action soon in the country's interest.
