Friday, 4 September 2015
A live overhead power cable snapped and fell on a passing Leguna (human-hauler) at Mohammadpur in Dhaka city on Friday. At least eight passengers of the human-hauler, including four women, were injured in the incident, police say. Local people rescued the eight injured persons and whisked them off to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. Police said the accident occurred near Mohammadpur Krishi Market around 11am when a live electric wire snapped from a power pole and fell on the passing human-hauler. Among the injured passengers, several were in critical condition. “Hospital authorities say six of the injured were in critical condition,” the police and locals said. However, the injured could not be identified. Fire Service control room official Brajen Kumar said firemen went to the site, but people from power authorities had already removed the snapped cable, according to a news agency.
