Snatching convicted militants: 11 suspects held in M\\\'singh

Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a daylong drive on Friday arrested 11 suspected JMB members from different areas of Mymensingh district in connection with Trishal convicted militants snatching incident. The defectives also during the drive that started on Friday morning and continued till late night recovered 4.5 kg explosives and one motorcycle used in the snatching incident, said Assistant Commissioner (AC) of DMP (DB) Abu Yusuf without further elaboration. Acting on a tip-off, a special team of DB from DMP along with local police carried out the drive and arrested the suspected militants along with the explosives and the motorcycle, the AC added. In a filmy-style attack on a prison van, a group of militants snatched three convicted top leaders of JMB — condemned Rakib Hasan and Salahuddin and life sentenced Boma Mizan — killing a policeman and injuring two other cops at Signboard in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh, while they were being taken from Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur to Mymensingh court on  February 23. Police and Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members arrested Rakib Hasan from Toktarchala village in Sakhipur upazila of Tangail in the same day. Later, Rakib was killed in a ‘gunfight’ between the law enforcers and his cohorts in Beltali Ceramic area when he was being taken to Mirzapur upazila of Tangail in search of the two other escaped convicts around 4:00am on February 24, according to UNB.
