Snatching of cell phones on the increase
Saturday, 5 July 2014
Recently the menace of snatching of cell phones is on the increase. When the car with its windows open comes to a halt at traffic signals or during traffic jams, criminals appear suddenly and run off with the cell phones of the riders, particularly female riders.
If reported, the police on duty show reluctance to help the victim. Even if the victim goes to the police stations, they do dilly-dally in registering complaints or filing case. The common people are thus very helpless. With the Eid ul Fitr appearing closer, more people will be out for shopping. We apprehend the criminals and hijackers will be more active. Where lies the safety and security of the common people?
