Sobhan made new home secretary

Abdus Sobhan Sikdar has replaced Abdul Karim as home secretary, reports BSS.

Five other secretaries and five additional secretaries have also been moved, the government announced on Sunday.

Karim will go to the Bridges Division. Sikdar will leave shipping, where an additional secretary will take over as acting secretary.

C Q K Mushtaq Ahmed, the bridges division secretary, will become new agriculture secretary.

The Registrar of Cooperatives, Masud Elahi, will move up to become acting shipping secretary.

Abdul Malek, acting member of the Planning Commission, will be acting secretary at the IMED or implementation, monitoring and evaluation division.

The acting IMED secretary, Dr Mihir Kanti Majumder, will be acting environment and forest secretary.

Mridula Bhattacharya, now under order of transfer to the ministry of women and children affairs, has been ordered to join the Planning Commission as an acting member.

Manzur Hossain, additional water resources secretary, will go to local government; Disaster Management director general K H Masud Siddiqui will be additional secretary at roads and railways division.

Riti Ibrahim, now OSD at establishment, will become additional secretary for water resources.

BEPZA member Md Farhad Uddin will head the Directorate of Disaster Management; Masud Ahmed, managing director of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Kalyan Trust, will become the new director general at the Directorate of Manpower, Employment and Training.
