Sunday, 3 May 2015

NARSINGDI, May 2 (BSS): Speakers at a monthly district law and order committee meeting on Wednesday said though the government has been working relentlessly to tackle the curse of child marriage and has been adopted multifarious steps to this end but it is not yet stopped.
Child marriage under the age of legally bound 18 years is still rampant in Bangladesh, the speaker said and added that government alone could not stop such type of social crime.
They urged for launching social movement involving everyone in the society including students and guardians to end the social menace that is destroying and shattering the health, hopes, aspirations and future of a girl child.
The meeting held at Deputy Commissioner's conference room. Additional District Magistrate Zinnath Rehana in the chair.
The speakers said the marriage registrars should be brought under advocacy and awareness programmes so that they can prevent the child marriage registration.
