Software design competition scheduled for May

A software design competition styled 'Microsoft Imagine Cup 2012', which was introduced by software giant Microsoft worldwide, will begin in May in the country.
Students from different private and public universities of the country will participate in the event divided into three rounds. First two rounds will be held in the country by May 3, 2012 and final round will be at Sydney in Australia in July.
'Imagine a world where technology helps solve the toughest problems' is the theme of the event.
Contestants were asked to solve one of the problems of United Nations Millennium Development Goals.
The eight problems of the competition are ending hunger and poverty, achieving universal primary education for everyone, promoting gender equality and empowering women, reducing child mortality, improving maternal health, combating widespread disease, ensuring environmental sustainability and developing a global partnership for development.
The global software firm in a statement said the mission of the competition is to inspire some of the most intelligent students around the world to solve world's toughest problems.
Microsoft Bangladesh will bear all the expenses of winning team here to send Sydney to participate in the International grand finale. The international grand finale winning team will get a sum of $25000.
Last year, Bangladeshi participants- "Team Rapture", the 3-member group of American International University Bangladesh won the People's Choice Award of Microsoft Imagine Cup 2011.
