Sohel, Habib get bail

The High Court on Sunday granted 6-month’s ad-interim bail to Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal President Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel and Chhatra Dal general secretary Habibur Rashid Habib in separate cases. An HC bench comprising justices Naima Haider and Zafar Ahmed passed the order after hearing separate bail petitions filed by their lawyer Khandaker Mahbub Hossain. The HC granted bail to Habib-un-Nabi Sohel in nine separate cases filed with Paltan, Motijheel and Ramna Police Stations in the city. Besides, the court granted bail to Habibur Rashid in eight separate cases filed with Paltan, Shahjahanpur, Sutrapur, Gulshan and Shahbagh Police Stations. Both of them were charged for vandalism, carrying out arson attack and obstructing police from discharging their duties during non-stop hartals enforced by the then 18-party alliance. Sohel was arrested when he surrendered before a Dhaka court on April 6 in 2013 while plainclothes policemen detained JCD leader Rashid in Shantinagar area on November 17, according to a news agency.
