Son of police officer rescued after abduction

CHITTAGONG, Sep 20 (UNB): The police rescued the four-year-old son of Officer-in-Charge of Comilla Kasba thana Zafarullah five hours after his abduction and also arrested a man from Maizbhandar Sharif area under Hathazari thana Saturday morning.
According to the police, the kidnappers knocked the door of Zafarullah's house at Halishahar here at about 9:30pm Friday. When the maidservant opened the door, the masked men picked up Zafarullah's son Sahil and hurriedly fled the scene by a microbus.
On information, the police arrested Manik, brother-in-law of Zafarullah, as he had a longstanding conflict with him.
Later, Manik confessed that he hired the kidnappers for kidnapping Sahil to realize ransom from Zafarullah.
The kidnappers demanded Tk 0.5 million ransom when police contacted them in the guise of the family members of Sahil.
As per their plan, plain-clothed police, led by Assistant Commissioner of Double Mooring Zone Iliotsin, went in front of the 'Jhankar' cinema hall along with the money and rescued Sahil at about 5:46 am today (Saturday).
