Sonali Bank disburses Tk 1.59m loan among poor farmers

BRAHMANBARIA, Jan 23: Sonali Bank Ltd (SBL) disbursed Tk 1599000.00 loan among 88 poor farmers directly through the bank's Medda branch at Sadar Upazila complex auditorium here recently.
SBL Deputy General Manager (DGM) and Zonal Head for Brahmanbaria Seikh Altaf Hossain was present at the function as the chief guest.
Manager of Medda branch Md Asaduzzaman presided over the function and delivered the address of welcome.
Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ripon Chakma and Sadar Upazila UCCA Ltd president MAH Mahbub Alam were present as special guests on the occasion.
Currently, Sonali bank has adopted some multipurpose work-plans to make its credit programme easier at the grass-roots level.
Mr Hossain said the main target of the bank is poverty alleviation so that the poor farmers can change their life style.
If they pay their outstanding loans, they will get new loans again, he added.
He asked the branch mangers and field officers to pursue the clients for recovery of outstanding loans and disburse new loans to fulfill the targets set by the bank.
