Sonali Bank emerge hockey champs

Sonali Bank SRC emerged Group B champions to reach the semi-final of the Office Hockey League with all-win record beating another semi-finalist Araf Apparels by 4-2 goals at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium Tuesday, reports UNB.
Sonali Bank SRC will meet Group B runners-up Firoz Land Properties in the second semi-final at 3:00 pm, while Group A champions Bangladesh Army play Group B runners-up Araf Apparels at 1:15 pm Thursday.
In the day's match, the bankers' team led the first half by 3-1 goals.
Zahid Bin Talib put Sonali Bank ahead in the 16th minute by a field goal (1-0), Khondokar Hasan Ahmed doubled the margin in the 19th minute, also by a field goal (2-0), while Asaduzzaman Chondon scored the third goal in the 23rd minute from a penalty corner (3-0).
Mohammad Wahiduzzaman of Araf Apparels reduced the margin in the 30th minute, converting a penalty corner.
Kazi Nahid Bin Jamal scored one more field goal for the bankers' team in the 48th minute (4-1) while Rimon Kumar again reduced the margin for Araf Apparels scoring from a penalty corner (4-2).
