'Sonar Tari' to arrive in city Aug 7

'Sonar Tari', a special train of Indian Railway, will arrive in the city with Indian Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on August 7 as part of its tour commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore.
The five-coach train that started its one-year journey on May 9, showcasing life and philosophy of the Kabiguru, will enter Bangladesh through Gede-Darshana of Jessore and reach Dhaka at 7:45pm. The commemorative train will stay in the city until August 9.
Officials said the train would also carry a cultural troupe to perform a show at the National Theatre of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on August 8. Besides, some prominent Indian personalities will also be present in the train.
Mamata Banerjee, leader of Trinamool Congress and also leader of the opposition of the Indian state of West Bengal, is expected to call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister Dipu Moni and Communi-cations Minister Syed Abul Hossain during her stay in Bangladesh.
Officials said Indian High Commission has already informed the Foreign Ministry about the tour of Mamata Banerjee, and Railway Division will decide where to receive her.
