Sonargaon Textiles to give 10pc cash dividend

The board of directors of the Sonargaon Textiles Limited has recommended 10 per cent cash dividend for its shareholders for the year 2006. The annual general meeting (AGM) of the company will be held at the Barisal Club in Barisal at 11:30 am on July 19. The company's book-closure will be from July 06 to July 19. Meanwhile, there will be no price limit on the trading of the company's shares today (Wednesday) following its corporate declaration.

BD Service gains Tk 56.06m net profit

The Bangladesh Service Limited gained net profit of Tk 56.06 million with earning per share (EPS) of Tk 1.66 as per audited accounts on December 31, 2006 as against Tk 159.51 million and Tk 4.73 respectively as on December 31, 2005.

SBL sponsor to sell 50,000 shares

Harun Rashid Chowdhury, one of the sponsors of the Standard Bank Limited (SBL), will sell 50,000 shares out of his total holdings of 1,59,930 shares of the bank at prevailing market price through Dhaka Stock Exchange within next 30 working days.

Sale/purchase of NCC bank shares

Qazi Monirul Alam, one of the sponsors of the National Credit and Commerce Bank Limited (NCC Bank), will sell 3,000 shares out of his total holdings of 52,549 shares of the bank while Khondkar Zakaria Mahmud, one of the directors of the bank, will buy the 3,000 shares of the bank (in the block market) at prevailing market price through Dhaka Stock Exchange within next 30 working days.

BRAC Bank to hold AGM on June 18

The eighth annual general meeting (AGM) of the BRAC Bank Limited will be held at the BDR Darbar Hall, Peelkhana, in the city at 10 am on June 18. Other information of the bank's AGM will remain unchanged.

Three SIBL sponsors to sell shares

Ghalib Mannan, Reshmi Mannan Siddique and Nargis Mannan, sponsors of the Social Investment Bank Limited (SIBL), will sell 2,500, 2,500 and 3,500 shares out of their total holdings of 6,750, 6,750 and 9,000 shares of the bank at prevailing market price through Dhaka Stock Exchange within next 30 working days. Meanwhile, as per instructions of Bangladesh Bank, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has approved the addendum to the Rights Shares Offer Document of the SIBL pertaining to reduction of the amount of rights issue to Tk 534,555,000 (534,555 ordinary shares of Tk 1000 each at part).
Sale/purchase confirmation of Mercantile bank shares
Md Monsuruzzaman, a sponsor of Mercantile Bank Limited, has sold 62,500 shares of the bank and Tara Meah Khan, another sponsor of the bank, has purchased 62,500 shares of the bank through Chittagong Stock Exchange.

Sale confirmation of IBBL shares

Md Eskander Ali Khan, one of the directors of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL), has sold 261 shares of the bank through Chittagong Stock Exchange.

Paid-up shares of Phoenix Ins rise

Paid-up shares of Phoenix Insurance Company Limited has been increased by 310,078 bonus shares, that is 30 per cent bonus of 1,033,594 shares, as the scrip has been allowed to be traded as ex-benefit with effect from June 11 last.
