Sonpara Bus Stand needs two L-loops

Wednesday, 7 August 2024

The Dhaka-Sylhet Highway is now extremely busy, with a rapidly increasing number of passenger vehicles and goods-laden trucks. Narsingdi is known for its nationwide cloth market, textile industry, and spinning mills. With a significant export-oriented textile industry located here, there is a pressing need to ensure timely transportation of cloth across the world.
Every day, commuters face tremendous traffic jams at Sonpara Bus Stand due to the junction road connecting Sonpara to Kanchan Bridge. The primary reason for these traffic jams is vehicles coming from Panchdona turning right toward Kanchan Bridge, causing sporadic turns and resulting in vigorous traffic congestion. Additionally, a few vehicles coming from Kanchan Bridge toward Vulta Gausia exacerbate the situation. Passengers often have to wait for hours to cross the road.
Therefore, the authorities concerned are urged to consider constructing two L-shaped loops at Sonpara Bus Stand to ease the hassles of the commuters on this busy intersection. One loop can be constructed connecting Kanchan Bridge to Vulta Gausia, and the other by linking Panchdona with Kanchan Bridge.
