Sound agribusiness stressed for boosting agri production

RAJSHAHI, Dec 4 (BSS): Speakers at a discussion here today emphasized the need for boosting agricultural production besides ensuring food security.
In this regard, they expressed views that many of the grassroot level farmers become disheartened when they fail to fetch fair price of their produce due to lack of proper marketing tools and various anomalies and syndication.
They were addressing the inaugural ceremony of a three-day agribusiness fair-2010 at the City Bhaban Green Plaza here.
Department of Agricultural Marketing under its Bangladesh Agribusiness Development Project organized the fair aimed at disseminating the modern agribusiness tactics among the people.
Mayor of Rajshahi AHM Khairuzzaman Liton addressed the ceremony as the chief guest and Additional Commissioner of Rajshahi division Swapan Kumar Roy as special guest with Deputy Director of the project Anwarul Haque in the chair.
In his address of welcome, Training Coordinator of the project Yousuf Ali gave an overview of the project together with the aims and objectives of the fair.
Mayor Liton called for a holistic approach to enhance food grain production through the best uses of the modern technologies so that the nation could attain self-reliance in food production as the present government is very much positive in this regard.
