Bangladesh have struck back in the first Test snapping up two South African wickets in quick succession in Chittagong. The Proteas are 169 for three in 58 overs at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Tuesday. The Bangladesh bowlers were rewarded for bowling a tight length after lunch. They took two wickets in the second session so far. Dean Elgar (47) went back first when he poked half-heartedly as spinner Taijul Islam extracted some bounce. He edged back to wicket keeper Liton Kumar Das who fumbled and took the catch on his second attempt. Faf du Plessis (48) followed in the next over as Shakib Al Hasan trapped him lbw. The pair had put on 78 in the second wicket partnership that put South Africa in a solid position before Bangladesh spinners came back strongly. Hashim Amla (13) and Temba Bavuma (20) were in the middle for the tourists. Bangladesh left out Soumya Sarkar, Nasir Hossain and Rubel Hossain for the first of the two-match series. Teenage seamer Mustafizur Rahman made his debut as the 78th Test cricketer for Bangladesh. Bangladesh are playing three spinners in the match -- Shakib Al Hasan, Taijul Islam and Jubair Hossain. South Africa left out Reeza Hendricks, Aaron Phangiso and Dane Vilas, according to bdnews24.com.
