South African judge to hear Gambhir appeal

NEW DELHI, Nov 2(AFP): Senior South African judge Albie Sachs will hear Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir's appeal against a one-Test ban for a breach of conduct during the third Test against Australia here.
Sachs, who was appointed late Friday, will hear the case within a week, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement released late Saturday.
"The ICC received official notification of the appeal from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Friday," the statement said.
"The ICC Head of Legal, David Becker, appointed Justice Sachs later the same evening in accordance with ICC Code of Conduct processes."
