South Asia Ins holds AGM

The seventh annual general meeting (AGM) of South Asia Insurance Company Limited was held in the city recently.
Chairman of the company Ghulam Akbar Chowdhury presided over the meeting, said a press release.
Among others, directors Anwar Ali Khan, Abu Mohd Chowdhury, Kamaluddin, Masud Ahmed, Nasiruddin Chowdhury, Samya Sultana and Mirza Golam Erfan (representative of M/s Electro Venture Limited) and alternate directors Sajed Akbar and Abu Saleh and Company Secretary Md Monjurul Haque were also present at the AGM.
Chairman Ghulam Akbar presented the directors' report and the financial statement for the year that ended on December 31, 2006 at the meeting.
According to the financial statement, the premium income of the company has increased by 13.44 per cent compared to the previous year, and investment by 12.77 per cent.
The company has also earned a before-tax profit of Tk 4.80 million and the total assets increased by about 10 per cent compared to the previous year.
The shareholders expressed their satisfaction over the performance of the company.
